Hannah never imagined coming across a dog in such a terrible state. Ozzy, an emaciated dog, was in desperate need of help. With every bone on his body exposed and no fur, Ozzy’s injured, red, itchy skin made every step he took seem excruciatingly painful. It looked as if he had been chained up and neglected for years.
When Hannah brought Ozzy home, he seemed almost lifeless, with no energy and a palpable sense of fear. All he wanted was to sleep. Hannah wasn’t sure if he would be able to hold on. Their walks were short, lasting only a minute or two, as Ozzy didn’t have the strength to stand for long periods. To help him enjoy the outdoors, Hannah found a solution in the form of a dog stroller, which Ozzy loved.
On the third day, Hannah noticed a big change in Ozzy’s eyes – they seemed brighter and full of hope. Around this time, Ozzy also started showing interest in toys and wagging his tail for the first time. After one week, Hannah noticed a significant improvement in his energy level. Although Ozzy was an older dog, he returned to his puppy behaviors once he regained his strength.
Ozzy craved constant attention, and his favorite place to be was snuggled between Hannah and the back of the couch. For Ozzy, there was no such thing as too much human contact. He needed constant reassurance that he was in a safe, loving environment. Watching the impact this had on Ozzy was life-changing for Hannah as well.
Ozzy’s journey from neglected, emaciated dog to cherished member of Hannah’s family has been an incredible one. Dogs like Ozzy need us. Please consider fostering a pet. You can make a huge difference!
