When Carlisle police arrived at the scene of the call in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, they couldn't believe their eyes.
Inside a marketable dumpster was a soaked puppy shivering from the deep freeze. He was missing patches of hair and was sick from eating garbage while trapped in a trash can.
Since it was a large dumpster, there was no way he could get to it on his own. The police knew someone had left it there, but they didn't know who.
The man who pulled the dog out of the dumpster, Corporal Josh Mulhollan, made two phone calls.
The first was for the Humane Society, and the second was for his woman, Christine, asking if they could borrow this cute and friendly dog.
“He kept looking at me with those eyes and I couldn't say no,” Cpl. "He got me," Mulhollan told ABC 27.
Christine agreed to take in the 11-month-old puppy and they decided to name him Koda. It's only been a week, but Koda has been doing great in his new home and has formed a real special bond with the Corporal. Mulhollan.
