Woman Takes Her Dog Dying Of Cancer For One Last Walk, Thirty Dogs And Supporters Join In
Sarah Keith took her daughter Ella, 12, to her beloved beach in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, for a final walk. Before that, she posted on social media asking other dog owners to join her on the special adventure.
A grieving woman, who had to put down her dog due to ill health, was thrilled when 30 other dogs joined her as she took her companion on a final walk.
Sarah Keith took her daughter Ella, 12, to her beloved beach in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, for a final walk.
The final walk was chosen when she received the tragic news that Ella had oral cancer.
Sarah quickly made up her mind to believe that it would be "selfish" to prolong the dog's suffering just because she didn't want to say goodbye.
After posting about the difficult decision on social media, she urged people to join her at Fristhorpe Beach on Monday.
That day, more than 30 dogs and about 25 supporters headed to the beach to meet Sarah and Ella.
"I assumed people who knew her might drop by. Obviously a lot of people are working on Monday, but I didn't want to bother anyone over the weekend. The post just went up and was shared. "I had people from all over the country who couldn't Never march and send me messages.”
“When I came, there were definitely more than 30 dogs, and on the order of 25 owners. There were a group of people leading them, who didn’t have particularly social dogs, but wanted to help in their own way,” she noted.
Photos from Ella's final round have already been shared online. Sarah stated that she had enough fun on her last day of her life.
“There was a group of Border Collies, and Ella loved running with them. At one point there were six or seven chasing the same ball. “He was the best dog I ever had, and I’ve owned dozens of dogs,” Sarah said.
