A stranger snuggled together near the corner of a sidewalk in Watts, California, setting aside tattered handlebars as if they had been tossed away like trash. It was cold last night, and the two; Big girl and one girl, keep warm and safe.
It's not as if rescuer Suzette Hall, founder of Logan's Legacy 29, who arrived Wednesday to help catch the dogs, was taken aback. The number of abandoned dogs has risen rapidly, and each example is arguably more outrageous than the last.
This rescue case was unique; In fact, Suzette was glad they wanted redemption and prepared to move on. The dogs were thrilled when I first arrived, as if to say, "Someone finally came."
The two dogs — a pit bull mix and a Yorkshire terrier mix — had been in the neighborhood for days, and no one knew who they were. Someone just left them to their own devices?
The little pup ran toward Suzette, excited to be caught and placed in her rescuer's arms. Then the big girl wanted to be with her boyfriend. Suzette had no intention of giving her up.
The two snuggled close to each other on the way home, tired but making sure they could touch. They were excited to offer kisses, feeds, and go to the vet for checkups, vaccinations, and any proof of identification.
Both dogs are really friendly. The Yorkie's coat is matte, and the pittie has skin issues. For these two adorable pups, one day all of this will be just a distant memory.
