Despite his name, Lucky, this dog had been extremely unlucky up until that point. Born with a facial deformity, he was repeatedly rejected and sent to shelters, but he eventually found the perfect mother.
When you’re born to an unscrupulous breeder whose sole goal is profit, having a deformity is like a death sentence. Lucky is a Labrador Retriever who was born with a facial deformity and therefore could not be sold by his breeder owner, who apparently abandoned him, according to Animal Channel.
He was adopted by a shelter and then placed with several foster families, but he always returned after long periods of abuse.
For example, he ended up with a family in Austin, Texas, who chose to give him up because living with cats wasn’t working out. He was kept outside regularly, tied to a tree, and poorly fed. He had no sleeping space and no care from his masters.
Lucky was dying in poor health from starvation and heartworm disease, was infected with parasites, and lacked an identification chip. He needed attention and affection. To facilitate his adoption, a volunteer from the shelter took him to a nanny and took several beautiful photos of him, which were then posted on the social media platform. Many people liked the photos, including a woman named Jamie Holt. The latter made the urgent decision to adopt him.
The vet told him that Lucky was sick and that his treatment would be very expensive, but Jamie Holt did not back down. She told him that she was willing to pay and that she should do whatever was necessary to save him. She paid around $8,000 (around €6,400) in veterinary expenses, and Lucky ended up making a full recovery.
At his new mother’s house, Lucky was given a new name: Beaux Tox. Jamie Holt justifies his strange choice by saying that his face looks like it needs Botox treatments. “We love beauty in all its forms,” she says of this four-legged animal.
Now the brave dog has everything he needs to be happy: a loving family that has recently expanded with the addition of two more dogs, walks, games, swimming, and a quiet place to sleep...
