Dog Abandoned At Shelter By Owners Due To Injury, But X-Ray Reveals Something Else

I've always imagined how hard it would be to work at an animal shelter where you have to deal with heartbreak almost all the time, but it's not always dark.

There are many joyful moments as many dogs and cats end up recovering and growing stronger than ever. It's those moments that really matter to them.

It's really nice to see that people like this exist. In the case of this poor puppy, her owner left her at the shelter and told the staff he couldn't take care of her.

They were confused at first when he said the dog had been in a car accident, but they wasted no time and decided they would help her.

Weak puppy

After the puppy was delivered to them, they immediately made an appointment at the veterinary clinic and took her there.

They were careful when moving it but noticed something was wrong. The owner told them she had been in an accident, but they saw no signs of it.

X-rays confirmed to them that she had no broken bones at all, so that story fell apart. Her blood tests also came back normal. So, what happened?

They noticed that her neck was always tilted to one side, and decided to do an MRI to confirm exactly what was wrong.

Test results showed that she was suffering from cerebral edema and cortical atrophy. This was the cause of her problems.

They decided that she had been like this since birth and that her owner probably didn't want to take care of her. The head shaking was clearly not due to the injury.

She was about four to five months old and had received little medical help for all her health problems.

However, now was not the time to despair. The shelter staff and veterinarians were determined to help her live a normal life.

The rescuers were puzzled by the owner's lies and could not understand why he had abandoned her so cruelly. They tried to communicate, but it wasn't possible.

A better future for Vista

Veterinarians knew the pup would likely need surgery, but first she had to undergo some form of rehabilitation.

To make things easier for her, they brought her some toys, and she loved playing with all of them.

She even made a new friend at the shelter. Although she was a little shy at first, she calmed down over time and started playing with him.

After discovering that she had autoimmune meningitis and necrotizing encephalopathy, they realized that they could not be cured.

The best they can do is treat them long term. She will also begin water therapy, which has helped her walk more steadily.

After conducting tests, veterinarians gave shelter staff some good news. The puppy will not need any surgery. Her treatment is doing wonders for her recovery.

This was a relief to everyone there. She spent half a year trying to recover and the results are already showing.

As for the owner, the authorities held the man responsible, and he merely assured everyone that he did not want the dog. While it's awful that he thinks of her that way, at least she's with someone better now.

A rescuer took the dog, now named Vista, home, and she is now enjoying her new life. I'm really happy to see everything is going well for her.
